4-Stars for this intro by Matt Zachary. The book sure dues build angst as Elliot goes through challenges. I do not want to go into detail and spoil the story.
I will say that at the end of this first book I felt sad, frustrated and angry for Elliot. That is good in building angst, but it did not leave me in a good place. I felt I shouldn't have to buy the series to get to a place were I felt good again. That's just me. I don't mind being left hanging but I really felt emotionally torn as a reader. This is exactly the same feeling I had with another of Matt's stories, A Life for Nicholas. I also did not finish that series.
I hate to leave a 4-star rating as the series may well be worth 5-stars as it has a good premise. I would liked to have discussed this with the author rather than leaving my feedback in this manner.
I enjoyed reading this I couldn't put my kindle down! Its definitely something I'd recommend... can't wait to read more!
This book gets off the a slow start but once you get past chapter 3, you can't stop reading it.
Great read I can't relate to some of this. Keep writing stories like this please. He's a great author period.
The writing is alright and does interest me, but how it is written really kills it. The story feels like its going on forever and the characters sound really generic. However, I do like the lead and I do like the family deliemas. All in all, Elliott's Winter is okay, but nothing memorable.
I read the first of the series of his books. And I find them to be compelling all aspects. It was like living those days over in your younger age when you first fell in love with the first and learn from the experience
It was hard to figure out if the script for this book was any different than A Life For Nicholas. Here is a story that starts out Elliott and his dad then suddenly nose dives into death and foster care. At the minute you think there's a HEA another drama cliffhanger to next novella. Same editing issues in this storyline as in other story read.
